Citing Work - what, why, how, and examples in MLA style
What : Most important are: Author, Title, Place of Publication, Producer/Publisher , Date of publication.
Why : So readers know where you got your information and can judge if it is authoritative and up to date. To acknowledge authorship/ownership of the material.
How : Your "Bibliography", list of "Works Cited" or "Works Consulted" should be -
- In alphabetical order by the first word in each entry.
- Indented: the first line of each entry five to seven spaces to the left (in MLA - a "Hanging indent")
- Double spaced.
- Titles of books and journals (with volume number) should be underlined or in italics.
Punctuation matters- a lot.
