Professional Development Opportunity
ENG860 - Teaching English Language Learners in the Mainstream Classroom is designed to equip mainstream classroom teachers with the knowledge and skills to effectively teach English Language Learners at varying levels of English proficiency. Teachers will develop strategies linking the English Language Proficiency Benchmarks with the MA Curriculum Frameworks. Objectives include appropriate assessment, planning, and implementation of sheltered content instruction. Not open to MAT in ESL program students.

Class costs $400 per person for 20+ participants and $428 per person for 14-19 participants, and the class grants 3 graduate credits through Salem State College.
Class dates are Thursday, Sept 11 - Dec 11 - 3:30 to 6:00 - Chelsea High School. There will be no class on November 27.
Teachers are eligible for 50% tuition reimbursement by submitting a "tuition reimbursement" form to the Director of Personnel, City Hall, before the start of the first class.
