English Language Learner Department
When an LEP (Limited English Proficient) student enters CHS for the first time, he or she is given English and Mathematics evaluations. A schedule is then designed for the student according to his or her English level and individual needs. The student's program consists of a year-long ELL class and classes in a sheltered or standard English-speaking program as needed.
Cuando un estudiante que no habla mucho ingles entra a la escuela por primera vez, se le da una orientacion y una evaluacion en Ingles y Matematicas Luego, se le programa un horario segtion su nivel de ingles y sus necesidades individuales. El horario tendrenĂ‚Â¡ una clase de ingles como segundo idioma (ESL) que dura el a entero (dos semestres), y otras clases, ya sea del programa bilinge o del programa regular en ingles, segun se requiera. Las tres partes del programa bilinge se explican abajo.
